If you’re looking for a late night libation in New York City, the West Village is a neighborhood with plenty of fantastic bar options for the discerning night-owl. Here are five bespoke late night drink spots just a short stroll from the luxury condominiums at The Printing House:
143 Perry St
Brimming with personality and charm, The Otheroom is the type of dark, atmospheric bar the West Village has always been famous for. Striking a perfect balance between cozy and stylish, this place is ideal for nocturnal souls, closing at 4am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3am for much of the rest of the week. It’s also great for the artistically inclined, thanks to the fact that this bar is committed to displaying original works of art, all created by locals. Whether you’re reclining on a plush couch with a date, or propping up the bar with friends, The Otheroom always offers very accommodating service.
422 Hudson St
With a local, artisanal focus, a knowledgeable, friendly bar staff and a lot of character, Lelabar, which is located within steps of the luxury condominiums at the Printing House, might not be open as late as other bars in the neighborhood (the 2am closing time exists only on Fridays and Saturdays), but it’s definitely worth stopping in here, even on Sunday evenings—there may be a curfew of just 11:30pm that night, but there’s also the offering of some magnificent live jazz to make up for it. The chic décor and intimate vibe, paired with the excellent wine options, make this the ideal spot for a post-dinner drink—especially if you’re passionate about oysters, or if oysters make you passionate.
34 8th Ave
For the fashion-conscious late night drinker, Anfora is a must-visit. See and be seen at this trendy little bar and tapas restaurant that stays open until 2am every night except Sundays. A hotspot since it opened in 2010, Anfora is also a 3-star Green Restaurant—meaning you can dine on delicious crostini and fantastic charcuterie here, safe in the knowledge that the owners are environmentally responsible, from their commitment to recycling, to their sustainable food practices. Anfora also caters to both wine and beer-drinkers, as well as cocktail-lovers.
Vin Sur Vingt
201 West 11th St
This gorgeous little wine bar will have you believing that you’ve stepped out of your West Village apartment and went straight into Paris, with its exquisite vin options, French food menu and continental décor—all thanks to owner Sebastien Auvet who pays homage to his French upbringing throughout this bistro-like bar. Also, it’s open until 2am all week, except for Sundays, so you can sip wine by candlelight, late into the night, almost every night.
Wilfie & Nell
228 W 4th St
Open until 3 or 4am, seven days a week, Wilfie & Nell is the perfect place to while away the night with great beverage choices and a wealth of locally sourced food (including some extremely tasty traditional British and Irish fare, including scotch eggs and shepherd’s pies—all served until 2am). The owners Mark and Simon Gibson are Dublin natives who named this bar after their beloved grandparents, which means Wilfie & Nell successfully intermingles an endearing family vibe with an atmosphere of late-night New York City living.
